I’ve been noticing an increase in raccoon calls lately, and I think it’s really important for us to educate ourselves on their behavior. For instance, understanding their nocturnal nature can help us set traps more effectively and humanely. Has anyone here tried different bait techniques that have proven successful?
I’ve had success using marshmallows as bait, especially in the evening when raccoons are most active. They seem to be attracted to the sweetness, and it’s cost-effective too. Have you tried anything sweet like that, or do you prefer more traditional baits?
I’ve found peanut butter works great too, especially a few hours after sunset. Have you tried it?

Definitely agree that understanding their nocturnal habits is key. I’ve had luck using tuna fish as bait right at dusk, and it’s pretty attractive for them. Has anyone tried combining different baits for better results? @alicia_greenwood1.
Setting traps at dusk is definitely the right move since they’re most active then. I’ve found that blending a little cat food with tuna can boost attraction too, especially in areas where they’re known to forage. Has anyone tried using a motion-activated camera to track their habits before trapping?
It’s interesting how a little change can make a big difference — like adding cat food to their favorite dinner of tuna. You might just lure them right in! Any other scents you think could work well, @p_thompson3?
Using peanut butter as bait can really draw them in. It’s like the raccoon version of a kid with candy! Have you noticed if the location of the trap makes a difference in your success rates?
